Rules

  1.  RULES
            1.1 The event will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing-Windsurfing Competition Rules except when modified by the race committee.
  2.  RACE FORMAT
           2.1 Slalom racing, timed two-minute sequence boat start. Five-buoy slalom unless modified by the race committee.
           2.2 Competitors may race up to eight heats per day, conditions permitting. 
  3. RACE DIVISIONS-You may enter two unlimited divisions; either 19-39, 40-59, 60 & over or Open Women, and one Ability Level division, Pro, Semi-Pro, or Advanced. A minimum of three competitors per division
          3.1 Unlimited
                 3.1.1 Juniors (18 & under)
                 3.1.2 (19-39)
                 3.1.3 Masters (40-59)
                 3.1.4 Seniors (60 & over)
                 3.1.5 Open Women
                 3.1.6 Pro
                 3.1.7 Semi-Pro
                 3.1.8 Sport
  4.  ENTRY FEES
          4.1 Must be current member of US Windsurfing. $15 Juniors, $30 Adult.
         4.2 $80 per event, $175 for all three events. $150 if paid by June 1. Send a check to: Maui Sports Foundation, 425 Koloa St., Kahului, HI 96732 or              enter online at mauislalomnationals.com.
  5.   SCHEDULE
          5.1 Skipper’s meeting each morning 10 am.
          5.2 Racing will start at 11:30, wind permitting.
          5.3 Age Group racing & Open Women will start racing in the morning.
          5.4 Ability Level racing will start after the conclusion of the Age Group & Open Women
          5.5 There may be a break for lunch after four rounds.
          5.6 A barbecue hosted by the event title sponsor will start at the conclusion of the day’s racing. 
  6.   SCORING
          6.1 Low point scoring, one discard for every four races per event.
          6.2 Low point cumulative scoring for overall Maui Slalom National Champion. Must compete in all three events to qualify.
          6.3 A minimum of three competitors will constitute a division.
          6.4 Awards will be given to division champions after each event and awards will be given to the overall champions of the three events. The overall division champions will be the Maui Slalom National Champion.
